San Francisco Day 3

We relocated to another hotel downtown today to The Westin St. Francis Hotel. The hotel was near Union Square, so after we put the lugguages down, we started off at the Union Square. The square was nice. It had a cute red heart sculpture and these giant steps with grass on them. The square looked a bit newer than Union Square in NYC, but the surrounded buildings made it very similar to the NYC one.

From Union Square, we walked around downtown and headed to Maiden Lane where a few luxury clothing stores were located. It wasn't as extravagant looking as I had thought it would be. We then walked to Chinatown. We heard it was supposed to be bigger than NYC chinatown, but when we got there, we were disappointed. It was small and had no interesting restaurants. Wei said SF chinatown was more for tourist attractions than a real Chinese communities. The real chinese communities in SF had been moved out from downtown and to Richmond and Sunset areas. We didn't know where to eat and called Wei for some suggestions. We had dimsum and their porkribs were the best!!! At the end of the meal, we met up with Wei and she took us downtown.

We walked around a shopping area around Market Street and went into Metreon Center. Metreon Center had a few movie theaters, food courts, and lots of cool shops. We went to this animation store and found these toy vending machines. The vending machines randomly dispensed toys. We want some certain toys but couldn't get it, so we gave up. For dinner, we took a bus to Japan Town and had some yummy Japanese food. We also went around the shops there. For desserts, Wei suggested this delicious mix of red beans, green tea ice cream, green tea, and some mochi. She bought mochi and shared with us too. It was different but good. Wei's boyfriend then picked us up and dropped us at our hotel.
