Lincoln, Nebraska

I went to Lincoln, Nebraska for High-Confidence Embedded Systems (HCES) workshop with two of my advisors and 8 other colleaques total 11 people (swarat, nikhil, arvind, madhukar, dave, sabastian, jesung, wanhong, and me). Most of us booked the same flight to Omaha airport and got there around the same time, so we rented a big van to fit all of us. Oleg drove us from the Ohama airport to Lincoln downtown, which took around an hour. We got there pretty late on May 9, and didn't do anything that night. We stayed Embassy Suites hotel in Lincoln, which was pretty nice and had free continental breakfast. The workshop started early the next morning at the University of Nebraska and ran until 5pm. We decided to meet around 6-7pm for dinner. So, in the meantime, I went around Lincoln downtown by myself. There was nothing much in Lincoln besides some church, local shopping stores and restaurants, and some government buildings. Lincoln had so many sculptures (as shown in three of the pictures here. ) I guess they try to make this boring town a bit more interesting.
For dinner, we went to an Indian restaurant called The Oven in the Historic downtown section of Lincoln, (called Haymarket, which was really lively and pretty interesting). It was recommended by someone local at the workshop, but according to our Indian colleaques, the food was not that great. After dinner, some people went back to the hotel, and some including me went to a bar with pool and foosball. I played foosball with three other people. Two guys knew how to play well while me and the other guy didn't. So, the guys who knew teamed up with the beginners. My teammate told me exactly what I should do and I did, and we won every single game! It was fun. :)
The next morning, we had to present our research posters, which was the main purpose of us students being there. I didn't do too well, but I learned how I should improve, so it was a good experience. We had only little time from the end of the workshop until our flight time, so we packed, got in a car, and had lunch that we took from the workshop in the car. Our flight was delayed at the O'Hare International Airport in Chicago (as we expected) and we arrived Philly late at night. We shared a cab to get home.
